Abstract

The author investigates the theory behind countries' policies on women in the military in tandem with feminists' demands that all facets and levels of military service should be open to women, as well as the concomitant punishments for refusing military service where it is obligatory. The use of military violence to enforce humanitarian rights abroad also plays into this conversation, as the author discusses the nuances and arguments undermining and supporting the policy, particularly as it is related to women and their participation in such militaries.
