Abstract

This volume traces the history of women participating in military ventures throughout history - from antiquity to the book's publication - and throughout various societies. Ultimately, the author makes an argument for the ability of women to engage in combat and be formidable warriors, as was seen in the ancient society of the Amazons. He claims that women's upbringing, if changed to resemble that of a male upbringing, would produce women with more courage and the ability to wield the sword in place of the spinning wheel.
