Dando Cuenta: Estudios Sobre el Testimonio de la Violencia Política en el Perú (1980-2000)

Analysis of the testimonies on political violence in Peru that allow a critical reflection on recent Peruvian history and its complex links with the current situation. This book is a foray into the archive of testimonies on the political violence that occurred in Peru between 1980 and 2000, fundamental material that has been little studied to date. The archive consists mainly of the nearly 17,000 testimonies collected by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (2001-2003), available to the public at the Information Center for Collective Memory and Human Rights of the Ombudsman's Office. These testimonies constitute a unique space to learn the unheard versions of this period of Peruvian history, as they are narratives of the past that have largely not been incorporated into Peruvian collective memory. A careful and exhaustive reading of the testimonies in this archive, from an interdisciplinary perspective and in dialogue with contemporary theoretical thought, allows the authors of this compilation of essays to offer us valuable tools for a critical reflection on recent history and its complex links with the current situation.
