"Pelonas" y Rapadas: Imágenes-Trofeo e Imágenes-Denuncia de la Represión de Género Ejercida Durante la Guerra Civil Española

During the Spanish Civil War, the insurgents converted the body of Republican women into a space of repression. One of the punishments that best symbolizes the sexual nature of this violence was to shave their heads and force them to walk through public space. The humiliation to which they were subjected was accentuated by the photographs that the repressors took and spread after trasquilarlas, as trophies of war. However, these images have been resignified in the fiction films Pelonas (Ramón de Fontecha and Laly Zambrano, 2003) and from your window to mine (Paula Ortiz, 2011), and in the documentaries Gerrako garrak Oñatin (collective Gogoratu Guran Taldea , 2011) and Guillena 1937 (Mariano Agudo, 2013). The article aims to elucidate the ways in which these films achieve, through different narrative strategies and from a clear gender perspective, vindicate, give voice and dignify some women who were once brutally dehumanized. [Author]
