Abstract

Since at least the middle of the 1990s, the debate about women as victims or perpetrators has given way to more differentiated focuses of attention in the interdisciplinary women's and gender research on National Socialism. Less the politically charged disputes than the work on specific policy areas have shown how fruitful an analytical view of the gender relationship in National Socialism and war is that can detect the impact of gender and national or ethnic affiliation as well as belonging to social classes. The anthology edited by Insa Eschebach and Regina Mühlhäuser documents contributions by the summer university of the Ravensbrück Memorial in 2007 on the subject of "Forced prostitution in war and crisis areas in the 20th and early 21st centuries", thus creating a specific form of victimhood focus.
