Abstract

This book chapter looks at the 75 percent ordinary enlisted women in the U.S. Army between 1948 and 2000 and their changing position. The focus is on the experiences of the policy changes  in respect of women by these women themselves. It will consider these women as "agents," as individuals who make choices amid every-changing circumstances.
