Abstract

The issue of homosexuality in the British military has attracted considerable attention and has produced a small but significant body of literature. Much of what has been written, however, starts from a value-based position in which rational discussion is often subordinated to the presentation of polemics and political arguments. This paper sets out to look critically at the current position of gays and lesbians in the British armed forces by considering the three basic questions of policies, practices, and problems.
