Bitka na Neretvi / The Battle of Neretva

Considered the most expensive motion picture made in Yugoslavia, The Battle of Neretva recounts one of the county's most significant battles in World War II between the Axis powers and the Yugoslav Partisans. The attack leaves the partisans outnumbered and trapped near the River Neretva. A bridge offers them a way out. Upon its release, the film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
