Abstract

This volume contains the compiled letters of Caroline Ethel Cooper, who was born in Adelaide but was living in Germany when World War I broke out. Rather than return to Australia, she chose to remain in Germany and wrote weekly letters to her sister, many of which had to be kept hidden for years. These letters provide a perceptive and compassionate account of life in Germany during the conflict.
