Abstract

Written by Soviet airwomen who served in three women’s air regiments (dive bomber, night bomber, and fighter regiments), formed by the late Marina Raskova, famous pilot-navigator, this book consists mainly of individual memoirs. This collection, translated from the original Russian, was originally compiled by M. A. Kazarinova, former chief of staff of the women’s dive bomber regiment, and by fighter squadron commander A.A. Polyantseva. The contributors to this volume, known as “soldiers of the air,” fought the enemy as well as men did and made an impressive impact on the outcome of the Second World War.
