Abstract

The Wife of General Ling is a 1937 British drama film directed by Ladislao Vajda, adapted from a novel by Dorothy Hope and Peter Cheyney. During the Chinese Civil War (1927–1950), a British intelligence officer must uncover the identity of a notorious gun smuggler, who has been delivering British weapons to General Ling. His primary suspect is Mr. Wong, a respected businessman-philanthropist from Hong Kong who sends food supplies to the poor in interior parts of the country. The businessman's wife proves to be an invaluable intelligence source.
