Abstract

Born to emigre Polish Jews, Tereska Torrès was nineteen when France was occupied by the Nazis in 1940. Immediately after passing her baccalaureate exam, Tereska went to London to join Charles de Gaulle's army in exile. She was enrolled into the Women's Corps of the Free French Forces. Assigned to secretarial duties, she rose to the rank of second-lieutenant.
