De guerre lasse / Engagements of the Heart

De guerre lasse is the film adaptation of a novel of the same title by Françoise Sagan, initially published in 1985. The plot centers around Alice, a widow of a Jewish surgeon, who helps Jérôme smuggle Jews out of Austria to save them from the Nazis. The duo recruits Charles, a shoe manufacturer whose uncle is a Nazi sympathizer in the Vichy government. A love triangle soon develops between Jérôme, Charles and Alice.
