Abstract

This is an inspiring piece of writing uncovering much of the unacknowledged history of the militant roles taken by women in times of war and simultaneously blowing apart the still pervasive myth that Jewish people did not fight back against the Fascist forces. The parts that women played in the struggle against the Nazis are a largely unsung struggle and Strobl shines a light on the amazing stories of women all across Europe who were a vital part of the Resistance efforts. Strobl also asks what happened next? How did women cope with a return to normal life and its limited options?
