Abstract

The trial of Adolf Eichmann in Jerusalem in 1961 caused a worldwide sensation. As the organizer of the transports of Jews, Eichmann was largely responsible for the murder of European Jews. Peter Krause examines the coverage of the trial in the German press at the time - especially in the Frankfurter Allgemeine, the Frankfurter Rundschau, the Süddeutsche Zeitung and Die Zeit, as well as in Spiegel and Stern - and in doing so shows how National Socialist crimes were reflected in the public sphere in the young Federal Republic.
