Looking for Shangri-La: An Autobiography

This autobiography is the intimate story of a young woman's experiences growing up in pre-war England and her subsequent naval service in the Women's Royal Naval Service at home and overseas during World War II. Amusing insights ranging from her school days to experiences in the tropical paradise of what was then known as Ceylon provide a vivid snapshot of the attitude of the times. The author writes about the difficulties of war-time romance, disappointment and an unexpected marriage, and in due course, settling down to life in post-war Holland.
