Abstract

In this work, Cribb urges his readers to look at continuities between the late Colonial State in Indonesia and its Indonesian successor. He does so through comparison to British India during the same time period, showing Dutch failure to recognize the growing autonomy of Indonesia and mistakenly trying to hastily reverse it during the advent of the Great Depression of the 1930's.
