Abstract

The author of this chapter addresses the question to what degree were Jewish women affected differently than non-Jewish women by sexualized violence during persecution? In other words, to what extent did persecution due to so-called race make a difference and influence Jewish women's likelihood of experiencing sexualized violence? This chapter deals specifically with sexualized violence against women during Nazi persecution. The specific nature of sexualized violence during National Socialism was unique, but it was also part of the historical continuity of violence against women in areas of conflict and war. [Author]
