Abstract	Two friends enlist in the Mexican army to fight during the Mexican-American War (1846–1848). Their perspective shows the United States as an invading colonizer seeking to expand the institution of slavery through its annexation of Texas. Recreating the battles of Churubusco and Chapultepec in 1847, the film's overtly patriotic theme rendered it very popular at the Mexican box office.
