Oeconomy and Discipline: Officership and Administration in the British Army, 1714-1763

This book explores the creation of the British officer corps and the development of a professional military administration in the first half of the 18th century in the context of several  conflicts in which the British army was involved including the Wars of the Spanish Succession (1701–1714), the Great Nortern War (1717–1720), the War of the Austrian Succession (1740) and the Seven Years' War (1756-1764).
