Abstract | The first Ravensbrück trial in Hamburg is one of the major, but rarely researched, concentration camp trials by the Western allies in the immediate post-war period. Seven women and nine men from the women's concentration camp Ravensbrück were indicted. The study examines the function and effect of the gender category between criminal guilt and patterns of interpretation of Nazi perpetration. The focus is on the interrelationship between criminal reconstruction and social representation. It analyzes the emergence of bestializing or victimizing gender images in court and their deconcretizing and depoliticizing unfolding in the discourse of Nazi crimes in West Germany. |
