Abstract

Italian Women at War explores Italian women's participation in war and conflict throughout Italy's modern history, beginning with the Italien Wars of Unification (1848-1866) covering  the First  World War (1914-18) and  Second Wold War (1939-1945) and ending with the Cold War. The essays in this volume, which focus on both historical and fictional female figures in Italian national history, help to further the discussion on women's participation in violence, warfare (both conventional and unconventional), and political protest throughout Italy.
