Abstract

The Scarlet Coat is a 1955 American historical drama and swashbuckler, based upon the events in the American Revolution (1775–1783) in which Benedict Arnold (1741–1801) offered to surrender the fort at West Point to the British in exchange for money. Major John Bolton, a counter-intelligence officer, intercepts a letter from a British spy documenting Arnold's control of West Point. Bolton goes undercover to infiltrate the British spy network to find out who is the traitor within the Continental Army's midst.
