| Abstract | This book chapter in the edited volume Landsknechte, Soldatenfrauen und Nationalkrieger: Militär, Krieg und Geschlechterordnung im historischen Wandel (Lansquenets, Soldiers' Wives and National Warriors: Military, War and Gender Order in Historical Change) studies the highly gendered and morally charged visual represention of women in mercenary armies of the 15th and 16th century in early modern prints. The large number of visual representations of women in the mercenary armies reflects the extent of the number of women in the baggage trains of theses armies. |
