Abstract

The article highlights one of the dispatches of World War I first female war correspondent Louise Mack, reporting for the "Daily Mail" and the "Evening News" newspapers in London, England, which became the foundation of a 1915 memoir "A Woman's Experiences in the Great War." These dispatches gave readers around the world eyewitness accounts of the German invasion and occupation of Antwerp; the specific dispatch reprinted in this article describes the aftermath of the German troops' pillage of the Belgian city Aarschot in 1914.
