Abstract

The article describes the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 and its significance for black domestic workers in the Soviet Union, as archived by black women labor activist Esther Cooper. It discusses Cooper's Master's Thesis, “The Negro Woman Domestic Worker in Relation to Trade Unionism". Topics include historian Erik McDuffie's views on Cooper's thesis, her belief in socialism and African American activist Williana Burroughs.
