Género, Conflictos Armados y Seguridad: la Asesoría de Género en Operaciones

The fight against sexual violence in armed conflicts and the increase of women's participation in peace processes are priority objectives of the United Nations Security Council (Resolution 1325, 2000) as far as the relationship between gender and international security is concerned. The gender "securitization" model developed on this basis introduces - according to the authors of this book - novelties in the analysis of the typology and actors in conflicts, incorporates new perspectives and possibilities and facilitates changes linked to the action of international criminal jurisdiction, the principles of humanitarian intervention and the responsibility to protect. In particular, it entails "the emergence of the concept of gender counseling in the military field and in conflict scenarios as an object of study and assessment".
