Abstract | This book aims to contribute to a more comprehensive, global understanding of the complex roles, responsibilities, and interests of women and men, whether as victims, perpetrators or actors, in armed conflict or political violence. Drawing on case studies from different regions of the world, it seeks to provide a holistic gendered analysis of the agency and identity of women and men throughout violent conflicts. In this way, the volume intends to provide substantive new empirical evidence important for those concerned with more rigorous analysis of the complexity of violent conflict. It also seeks to identify concrete, operationally relevant issues for those designing policy or programme-level interventions. |
