Abstract | In this chapter, the author looks at the experiences of women combatants. She argues that women's roles in Zimbabwe's armed struggle for independence were extensively glorified during the war in order to garner international support, and that a close examination of women's lived experiences as combatants reveals how patriarchal power was reconfigured both during the war of liberation and after independence. |
