This autobiography by British actress and theatre manager Lena Ashwell (1872–1957) explores her journey from music student to suffragist, and focuses mostly on her enthusiastic support for British troops during World War I. She was given permission to take companies of actors, singers, and entertainers to the Western Front and organized shows with these entertainers to boost morale.
