Abstract

On the occasion of the Bicentennial of Latin American Independence, the Center for Women's Studies in Latin American History, CEMHAL, convened the IV International Symposium Women in Latin American Independence that took place in Lima on August 19, 20 and 21, 2009, with the sponsorship of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Tourism and Psychology of the University of San Martin de Porres, the representation of UNESCO in Peru, and the Andrés Bello Agreement. Forty-three papers were presented in ten working groups that covered a variety of topics and in which nearly fifty outstanding professors, researchers and academics from Latin American countries, the United States, Canada and Europe participated. This book looks to highlight the contributions of Latin American Women during the various Latin American Wars for Independence.
