Abstract | The poet and radio personality Jean Sénac was a pied-noir (European colonist) who chose to stay in Algeria after its independence in 1962, strongly attached to the country he was born and raised in. Ten years later, he was under surveillance by the Algerian government. His poems attracted a wide public, and his radio show found great success with the youth. Two students became intimate with the poet, and joined his combat for liberty and culture for Algerian youth. His combat which would lead Sénac to martyrdom; one night in August 1973, he was assassinated in circumstances that remain mysterious. The film is based on a true story. |
