Abstract

Darfur Diaries: Message From Home is a brutally honest inside look into the tragedy which befell the Darfur Region. A team of three independent filmmakers in Darfur monitored the worsening political and humanitarian crisis in 2004 and recognized that the mainstream media offered marginal and inadequate coverage. They set out with the goal of providing a platform for the people of the Darfur to speak for themselves about their experiences, their fears, and their hopes for the future. This film seeks to provide space for the marginalized victims of atrocities to speak and to engage with the world. Amnesty International used the film to educate its members and the public about the situation in Darfur.
